Thanks to the constant support of his father and his family, he was able to recover unexpectedly from the operation and was able to win the 200-meter sprint competition at the World Athletics Championships for Paralympic Athletes, when he was only 17 years old.

Shortly after the competition, after undergoing routine medical check-ups, they detected another tumor in his brain. Due to the treatment she was under, she was forced to leave training and competition for a long time

Some time later, a little before the Paralympic Games in Toronto, the young athlete was diagnosed with familial adenomatous polyposis, a hereditary health problem, which caused more than 200 tumors in the large intestine.

When the treatment she was under helped her eliminate around 90% of the tumors in her digestive system, Verónica returned to the athletics tracks to prepare for the Paralympic games in Rio in 2016. Thanks to her effort and great performance, the athlete was awarded two medals in the competitions.

The brain tumor reappeared in 2017, as in 2018, which did not allow her to continue training from 2017 to 2019. Despite all the difficulties, Verónica is now in better health, and trains to continue obtaining a great number of medals, practicing more than 5 hours per day.
