Mother Uses Virtual Reality To Meet Her Deceased Daughter

Little Nayeon left this world when she was just 7 years old, now thanks to virtual reality her mother was able to be with her

The love of a mother is eternal and as long as she is by the side of her children she is capable of anything, as is the case of a woman who has divided opinions, since many think that it can become a trauma. This mother designed a virtual reality scenario to reunite with her deceased daughter.

It was the South Korean company Viv Studio that organized a moving ‘reunion’ of a mother with her daughter, who lost her life three years ago and has been virtually ‘cloned’ by the company, according to what can be seen in MBC’s special documentary ‘I Meet You’.

Little Nayeon was only 7 years old when she was diagnosed with hematological cancer, and only a month later she lost her life. According to the documentary, the mother wanted to meet her daughter to say goodbye to her in another way.

In the recording, you can see how the woman, who wears special virtual reality glasses and gloves, can interact with Nayeon, who calls her ‘mom’. Of course, feelings and emotions win over Jang Ji-Sung who starts crying as he tries to hug and touch his daughter.

The virtual stage imitates Nayeon’s favorite park, and mother and daughter celebrate the little girl’s birthday, who wishes her mother never cry again.

In order to recreate the girl, the specialists had to take hold of some videos and photos of her, analyzing her behavior, her tone of voice and her gestures, using the technique of motion capture to make the animation. Based on all these factors, they were able to create a unique image of the girl in eight months.

This beautiful video has moved many users on social networks, who admitted that it was impossible for them to hold back their tears. However, other Internet users expressed divergent opinions regarding the use of virtual reality for this type of encounter with people who are no longer in this world.

Before this there is a very divided group, since while they find what they think that an experience of this type can help heal wounds, others comment that it can be counterproductive and even traumatic for the psyche of the person who has gone through the pain of losing someone so close and loved.
