Cheese can be as addictive as cocaine

According to a study, the proteins in cheese and the process used to create it have become an addictive food like any other drug such as cocaine and heroin.

Cheese is one of the most consumed foods in the world, it is found in pizzas, hamburgers, pasta, empanadas, dressings and even in healthier foods such as salads.

This is because there are different types of cheese: mozzarella, Manchego, cheddar, Parmesan and countless more.

According to a study carried out by the University of Michigan, it was published that up to 80% of casein is found in milk. Casein is a protein that helps us absorb calcium and phosphate that reaches the intestine. So far none of this sounds worrisome, things change when it is discovered that when digesting this protein it has an effect very similar to that caused by drugs.

Although casein is found in all dairy products, it is in cheese where it is present in greater quantity due to the process that requires converting milk into cheese, this has the result that the effect of casein is multiplied even up to 10 times.

"Casomorphins latch onto opiate receptors in the brain, causing a calming effect similar to that of heroin and morphine." That was the comment given by Dr. Neal Barnard, who is also president of the Association of Physicists for Responsible Medicine Research.

As cheese has an effect on our body very similar to that of cocaine, Dr. Barnard recommends that detoxification should be very similar to the process that addicts undergo to any other type of drug, that is, eliminate life the consumption of this food and stay as far away as possible.

Opinions on this subject so far remain very polar, on the one hand there are those who do not want to try cheese again in their lives for fear of continuing to be dependent on a food that could well be causing irreparable damage if it is not act on time.

While there are those who do not believe at all in the study that was published by scientists where it is clearly stated that the effect of cheese is very similar to that of a drug, they do not believe that this is really true and it even seems illogical to them that someone has been comparing a dairy product that is found in most of the meals and snacks that we eat daily with drugs that are highly damaging to our system.
